Program’s purpose/objectives:

The principal aim of the Business Studies Program is to provide a contemporary and dynamic program of study which gives students knowledge, skills and competences on COURSEs relevant to business and management as well as giving students a broad perspective. More specifically the aims are to:

• study organizations, their management and the changing external environment in which they operate;
• prepare for and development of a career in business and management;
• enhancement of lifelong learning skills and personal development to contribute to society at large.
• ensure that each student has a thorough knowledge of the international and ethical dimensions of business management.
• prepare aspiring, high achieving students for entry into graduate programs.
• ensure academic programs adopt to changing requirements in business professions and adopt to changing expectation of business
• study fundamental concepts and theories with Business Intelligence
• introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business
• tudy machine learning, deep learning and generative AI
• explore the latest developments in AI and gain hands-on experience in using AI tools.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission of undergraduate courses requires:
(a) graduation from a six-year public or private school of secondary education formally registered by the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus or the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Greece. In addition, evidence that the applicant is competent in written and spoken English language, and at the discretion of the Admission Officer a successful completion of a personal interview with our Admissions Officer, either in person or by phone / skype / zoom*1;
or
(b) a General Certificate of Education with a pass mark in five courses, including two courses at Advanced Level and Ordinary Level passes in English Language or an equivalent qualification;
or
(c) a General Certificate of Education with a pass mark in four courses, including three courses at Advanced Level and Ordinary Level passes in English Language or an equivalent qualification;
or
(d) graduation from an approved course in an accredited secondary education school of 12 years of education and, in addition, evidence that the applicant is competent in written and spoken English language*1.

*1 Placement Test
All new students, at the discretion of the Admissions Officer, are required to take a standardized placement test. These are administered by the University during the orientation week and aim to assess each student’s potential. These tests measure quantitative and verbal aptitudes. All test scores are then screened by a panel. Appropriate programs are then drawn to assist students in light of the observations made by the panel. Holders of the General Certificate of Education, as stated above, are exempted from the placement test.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Business Studies program, graduates should be able to:
• demonstrate effective communication skills in a business environment
• understand the importance of culture and diversity in global and local business environments
• appreciate and understand the ethical implications of business decisions and actions
• demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology, using appropriate software, data sources and tools for making sound business decisions
• demonstrate critical thinking, diagnostic, synthesis, research and problem solving skills in making business decisions
• demonstrate knowledge of group dynamics and interpersonal skills needed to be an effective leader and manager
• identify the challenges of operating in a global environment
• understand how AI is currently being used to create value with business
• distinguish the difference types of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how they are applied in a business context
• assess an organisation’s existing data sources and business processes to identify opportunities to gain strategic advantage using AI.

Graduation Requirements

Students studying towards the BA degree in Business Studies are required to take a minimum of 240 ECTS. One hundred and seventy (180) ECTS must come from compulsory subjects, seventy (60) ECTS from electives.
