Biography

Εlias Sdralis is the Scientific Director of the Department of Obesity & Metabolic Diseases at the Interbalkan Medical Centre of Thessaloniki, specializing in General Surgery with advanced expertise in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery. He graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Patras, and holds a recognized two-year specialization in the United Kingdom in Upper GI Surgery focusing on both malignant and benign esophageal and gastric diseases. He also completed postgraduate studies in Healthcare Management and in Clinical and Clinical Laboratory Specialties, as well as training in medical education and military management. He is fully registered with the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and served for 23 years in the Hellenic Army, holding clinical and administrative positions, including roles at the 424 General Military Hospital of Thessaloniki (424 GSNE). His clinical focus includes laparoscopic, 3D, and robotic minimally invasive surgery for morbid obesity and upper GI conditions, including oncological surgery of the esophagus and stomach. He is an active member of several scientific societies, including IFSO and Greek surgical associations, and is also a member of MENSA, reflecting his broader academic and professional engagement.
