Biography

Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos is an Assistant Professor of Law at Philips University, Cyprus. He is also Professor of Criminal Law at the Hellenic Police Academy. He currently teaches at the University of West Attica (Greece) and has previously taught at the Hellenic Open University. He has also served as a visiting professor at several universities worldwide, including institutions in Germany, Brazil, South Africa, Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Albania.

He holds a PhD in Criminal Law and Criminology from the Faculty of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (IKY scholarship holder – first rank in the “Herakleitos II” programme) and has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of West Attica with funding from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (ELIDEK).

Dr. Spyropoulos is the author of three scholarly monographs, has edited collective volumes, and has published extensively in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals in the fields of Law, Criminology, and related interdisciplinary areas.

He is a member of several scientific associations, including the European Society of Criminology, and is a founding member and Scientific Director for Academic Affairs and Development of the Centre for the Study of Crime, a scientific civil society organisation primarily engaged in criminological research and academic activities, in Greece.
