Eleftheria Lazarou is a Midwife and PhD candidate in the Department of Nursing at the Cyprus University of Technology. She holds a BSc in Midwifery from the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, an MSc in Research in Female Reproduction from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and an MPA in Public Healthcare Administration from Neapolis University Pafos.
Her doctoral research focuses on investigating the predictive value of biochemical markers in the development of gestational diabetes mellitus, with the aim of contributing to evidence-based clinical practice and improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
Alongside her academic pursuits, Eleftheria serves as Head Midwife and Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Iasis Private Hospital in Paphos, Cyprus. Her responsibilities include overseeing clinical operations, coordinating perinatal care, developing and implementing clinical protocols, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) in accordance with healthcare quality and accreditation standards.
She is also a member of the Behavioral Science in Health (BSiH) Lab, serving as a Research Associate on the ALTHEA CY project, which focuses on disease prevention and health promotion during the perinatal period. Her academic and teaching experience includes serving as a Special Scientist, delivering theoretical and laboratory-based courses at the postgraduate level in subjects such as Anatomy and Embryology, Normal Labour, and Pathophysiology of Pregnancy.
Eleftheria has participated in clinical studies and contributed to the development of research protocols. She has expertise in clinical and non-clinical research methodologies, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods approaches.
Her research interests encompass midwifery care, preventive healthcare, reproductive endocrinology, and the pathophysiology and complications of pregnancy, with a particular
