Dr Effimia Ireiotou received her MSc. and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA. Dr. Ireiotou is an Associate Professor at the Ionian University, ex-head of the Department of Food Technology and Science and possesses extensive professional and teaching experience. During her career as a researcher, she worked at the Pasteur Institute of Athens and the Department of Microbiology of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is the author of 21 research papers that appear in several scientific journals including Food Microbiology, International Journal of Food Microbiology, Biochemistry, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Applied and Environmental Microbiology and FOODS. Her current research interests include biological activity of plant essential oils, biological activity of olive oil isolated substances and wild yeast isolation and identification.
