Biography

Dr. Anastasios Pappas has received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of the Aegean (with scholarship obtained from the “State Scholarship Foundation”- “IKY”), an MSc in International Banking and Finance from the University of Southampton (UK) and a PhD degree in Macroeconomics from the University of the Aegean.

He has worked as an economist in the private and public sector (consulting, banking and local government). Currently, he is the Head of the Research Department of the Hellenic Fiscal Council. His main tasks include among others the monitoring of the state budget execution, economic analysis, economic research, macroeconomic and fiscal forecasting as well as economic policy proposals.

He has taught various courses (Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, Microeconomics, Political Economy, Business Economics etc) at the University of the Aegean (BSc in Business Administration and MBA) and at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (BSc in Economics, MBA, MSc Philosophy and Management and MSc Political Economy).

His research interests cover topics concerning Fiscal Macroeconomic and Monetary Policy, Economic Forecasting, Financial Crises and Capital Mobility.
