Ο Επ. Καθηγητής Ποινικού Δικαίου και Εγκληματολογίας του Philips University Δρ. Φώτιος Σπυρόπουλος συμμετείχε ως ομιλητής στο Launch Conference του ευρωπαϊκού έργου GRACE – Gender-based Violence Restorative Ambassadorship for Correctional Environments, το οποίο πραγματοποιήθηκε την Τετάρτη, 27 Μαΐου 2026 στην Αθήνα.
Το συνέδριο διοργανώθηκε από το Κέντρο Ευρωπαϊκού Συνταγματικού Δικαίου – Ίδρυμα Τσάτσου και συγκέντρωσε εκπροσώπους της πολιτείας, νομικούς επιστήμονες, επαγγελματίες του σωφρονιστικού πεδίου, φορείς της κοινωνίας των πολιτών και ειδικούς σε ζητήματα έμφυλης βίας. Στο επίκεντρο της εκδήλωσης βρέθηκε η ανάγκη ενδυνάμωσης των θεσμικών και κοινωνικών παρεμβάσεων για την αντιμετώπιση της έμφυλης βίας σε σωφρονιστικά περιβάλλοντα, καθώς και ο ρόλος των φυλακών ως πεδίο πρόληψης και αποκαταστατικής παρέμβασης.
Η εισήγηση του Επ. Καθηγητή Δρ. Σπυρόπουλου είχε τίτλο:
“Advancing through Synergies – The ReJust Project – Cross-Sectoral Dialogue on GBV Restorative Justice: Bringing in Policy Makers and Civil Society”
Στην ομιλία του, ο Δρ. Σπυρόπουλος ανέδειξε τη σημασία των διατομεακών συνεργειών για την ανάπτυξη ασφαλών, τεκμηριωμένων και θεσμικά υπεύθυνων προσεγγίσεων στο πεδίο της αποκαταστατικής δικαιοσύνης σε υποθέσεις έμφυλης βίας. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δόθηκε στο ευρωπαϊκό έργο ReJust – Restorative Justice in Domestic Violence: When Wounds Become Strength – Justice That Heals, το οποίο υλοποιεί το Κέντρο Μελέτης του Εγκλήματος στην Ελλάδα, με την επιστημονική συμμετοχή και του Επ. Καθηγητή Φ. Σπυρόπουλου, εστιάζει στην ανάγκη ουσιαστικού διαλόγου μεταξύ φορέων χάραξης πολιτικής, νομικών, επαγγελματιών του πεδίου, σωφρονιστικών και κοινωνικών υπηρεσιών καθώς και οργανώσεων της κοινωνίας των πολιτών.
Ο Επ. Καθηγητής Δρ. Σπυρόπουλος υπογράμμισε ότι η αποκαταστατική δικαιοσύνη σε περιπτώσεις έμφυλης και ενδοοικογενειακής βίας δεν μπορεί να αντιμετωπίζεται ως απλή εναλλακτική διαδικασία ή ως μηχανισμός αποσυμφόρησης του ποινικού συστήματος. Αντιθέτως, απαιτεί αυξημένες εγγυήσεις ασφάλειας, εξειδικευμένη γνώση, προσεκτική αξιολόγηση κινδύνου, προστασία των θυμάτων και σαφή θεσμικά όρια. Παράλληλα, ανέδειξε τις ιδιαίτερες προκλήσεις που ανακύπτουν όταν τέτοιες πρακτικές συζητούνται ή εφαρμόζονται σε σωφρονιστικά περιβάλλοντα, όπου η δυναμική της εξουσίας, η ευαλωτότητα των εμπλεκομένων και η ανάγκη συνεργασίας διαφορετικών επαγγελματικών ομάδων καθιστούν απαραίτητη τη διεπιστημονική και διατομεακή προσέγγιση.
Η συμμετοχή του Επ. Καθηγητή Δρ. Σπυρόπουλου στο συνέδριο εντάσσεται στη διαρκή επιστημονική και ερευνητική δραστηριότητα και του Philips University σε ζητήματα ποινικού δικαίου, εγκληματολογίας, έμφυλης βίας, αποκαταστατικής δικαιοσύνης και θεσμικής συνεργασίας. Παράλληλα, αναδεικνύει τη συμβολή του Πανεπιστημίου στον ευρωπαϊκό επιστημονικό διάλογο για την ανάπτυξη σύγχρονων, ανθρωποκεντρικών και τεκμηριωμένων πολιτικών πρόληψης και αντιμετώπισης της βίας.
Participation of As. Professor Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos in the Launch Conference of the European GRACE Project in Athens
As. Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at Philips University, Dr Fotios Spyropoulos, participated as a speaker in the Launch Conference of the European project GRACE – Gender-based Violence Restorative Ambassadorship for Correctional Environments, which took place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, in Athens.
The conference was organised by the Centre for European Constitutional Law – Themistocles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation and brought together representatives of the State, legal scholars, correctional practitioners, civil society organisations, and experts in the field of gender-based violence. The event focused on the need to strengthen institutional and social interventions for addressing gender-based violence in correctional environments, as well as on the role of prisons as spaces for prevention and restorative intervention.
The presentation delivered by As. Professor Dr Spyropoulos was entitled:
“Advancing through Synergies – The ReJust Project – Cross-Sectoral Dialogue on GBV Restorative Justice: Bringing in Policy Makers and Civil Society”
In his speech, Dr Spyropoulos highlighted the importance of cross-sectoral synergies in developing safe, evidence-based, and institutionally responsible approaches in the field of restorative justice in cases of gender-based violence. Particular emphasis was placed on the European project ReJust – Restorative Justice in Domestic Violence: When Wounds Become Strength – Justice That Heals, implemented in Greece by the Center for the Study of Crime, with the scientific participation of As. Professor Dr F. Spyropoulos. The project focuses on the need for meaningful dialogue among policymakers, legal professionals, field practitioners, correctional and social services, as well as civil society organisations.
As. Professor Dr Spyropoulos stressed that restorative justice in cases of gender-based and domestic violence cannot be treated as a mere alternative procedure or as a mechanism for relieving pressure on the criminal justice system. On the contrary, it requires enhanced safety safeguards, specialised knowledge, careful risk assessment, victim protection, and clear institutional boundaries. At the same time, he underlined the specific challenges that arise when such practices are discussed or implemented in correctional environments, where power dynamics, the vulnerability of those involved, and the need for cooperation among different professional groups make an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach essential.
The participation of As. Professor Dr Spyropoulos in the conference forms part of the ongoing scientific and research activity of Philips University in the fields of criminal law, criminology, gender-based violence, restorative justice, and institutional cooperation. It also highlights the University’s contribution to the European scientific dialogue on the development of contemporary, human-centred, and evidence-based policies for the prevention and response to violence.
