Course Description

Addiction rehabilitation is the process of treatment for addiction disorders. Addictions, according to the World Health Organization, are a bio-psycho-social phenomenon and tackling them therefore requires a multidisciplinary approach. The course will cover key issues related to addiction rehabilitation interventions, including co-morbidity management issues with other mental health conditions, family role analysis, and community-based interventions that could enhance recovery efforts. The concept of relapse and the ways of managing relapses will be analysed and the basic methodological therapeutic approaches in the field of addiction rehabilitation will be presented. At the same time, the Rehabilitation Programs that operate internationally in Cyprus will be presented to students and researches regarding the effectiveness of each Program will be discussed. The concept of empirically substantiated intervention will be analysed in the context of evaluating the success of each program.
