Course Description

The purpose of this course is to apply and incorporate principles
and concepts of mental health, psychopathology, and treatment modalities related to the nursing care of patients and their families while continuing to incorporate the concepts of nursing, environment, person, and health.

Also, the course provides theoretical and clinical knowledge with the aim of acquiring skills related to the integrated nursing care of people with psychiatric and psychological disorders and the learning and application of the principles of mental health in the fields of nursing in all areas where it is practiced.

Furthermore:

  • the nurse’s role as a provider of care and as a coordinator of care for clients having psychiatric and Psychological disorders,
  • the concepts of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention are applied to these behavioural disorders,
  • the nurse’s pursuit to promote continuity of care for the client as the client transitions from inpatient to outpatient agencies are discussed.
