Health and Safety in Healthcare

Course Description

The purpose of the module is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the concepts of Health & Safety, raise awareness and create familiarity with the core Health & Safety Legislation both at a national and European level and promote safe working practices.

At the same time, to facilitate the understanding of the importance of hazard identification and the importance of risk assessment and the appropriate control measures.

Alongside with the understanding the principles of Health & Safety Management, the module aims to help students identify and recognise the legal, financial and ethical consequences of poor Health & Safety practices.

The module is designed with healthcare in its epicentre and as such emphasis will be given on health and safety issues and challenges related to health services.
