Course Description

This course is a directive course and examines the most significant modern models of intervention in the field of detoxification.

The aim of the course is to give the student the opportunity to understand the ways in which basic principles and counselling skills are formulated into intervention models. The most representative counselling models will be presented and the most popular modern models in the field of detoxification will be examined to a greater extent. Counselling models that apply to the full range of addictions, addiction to illicit substances, addiction to legal substances, addiction to betting, addiction to the internet and other screen addictions will be considered.

The individual objectives of the course are:

  • To cover a brief historical review of the evolution of counselling models.
  • Give a comprehensive understanding of counselling models.
  • Discuss counselling-related concepts and examine the points of convergence and divergence between counselling and psychotherapy.
  • Examine some of the most established counselling models in the field of detoxification.
  • To present the classic and modern areas of dependence that apply counselling models.
  • To enhance the application of certain counselling models in the various areas of dependence.
  • Discuss obstacles and limitations in the application of counselling models in the field of detoxification.
