Course Description

Establishing rules to ensure healthy and free competition in the market between businesses is one of the most important priorities in an open market economy.

Assuring healthy competition is a way to ensure reduced prices for goods and services while improving quality. Competition law is aimed at promoting effective and undistorted competition in the marketplace.

Course purpose is to provide a theoretical as well as a practical legal view of the above basic goals.

Students will delve deeper into concepts and also into more specific issues of European Competition Law. The importance of Competition Law for the proper functioning of the European Union’s internal market will be understood. Emphasis will be placed on the legal comitments of the competition provisions and the way in which the bodies that impose them operate with a special reference to the relevant jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
