Andreas G. Orphanides is Professor of History and Archaeology, and Vice-President of the University Council. He served and taught at universities and at other higher education institutions in the USA, Greece and Cyprus, and he also served as Rector of a University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Athens (Greece), and a Master’s and a PhD. degrees from the University at Albany (USA). He was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor Honoris Causa) by ‘Ovidius’ University of Costantza (Romania) and with the “Gold Medal” of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. He served as President of the European Association of Institutions in Higher Education (EURASHE), as well as President of the European Register of Quality Assurance (EQAR). In Cyprus, he served in several national committees on higher education. He has an extensive research record, and he wrote a considerable number of books, scientific articles, conference papers and articles in the daily Press.
