Σκοπός του μαθήματος είναι η εισαγωγή των φοιτητών/τριών σε βασικές έννοιες, θεματικές και επιστημολογικές εξελίξεις της Ιστορίας του Δικαίου και η κατανόηση της εξέλιξης των θεσμών και πηγών καθώς και η επιβίωσή τους σε μεταγενέστερες εποχές, ακόμη και στη σημερινή εποχή.
