In the legal circles around the world, the rigidity and complexity of the Cypriot Constitution is widely known, which was not the product of political processes of the Cypriot people, but was the culmination of historical circumstances that led to the Zurich-London agreements. However, this Constitution was to have a very short history of implementation of only three years after the Turkish Cypriot uprising and the consequent dysfunction of the Cypriot state. Then, the application of the law of necessity and others related are the subject of study of this course
At the same time, the concepts of state, state, separation of powers, exercise of state power and consolidation of the importance of democratic fundamental principles and human rights are analyzed.
At the same time, a critical approach is being developed to the bi-communal character of the Constitution, the basic provisions, and discrimination. In addition, the course aims to develop independent and critical thinking in students as well as to develop skills in independent research in the field of human rights.
Moreover, this course encourages students to acquire basic knowledge of Human Rights and their protection, with an emphasis on the European Convention on Human Rights and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, and on the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice.
