Panayiotis M. Pourpourides is Associate Professor of Economics and Quantitative Analysis at Philips University. He previously served as Senior Lecturer and Lecturer of Economics at Cardiff University and as Senior Researcher in the Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Cyprus. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia, in 2007. His research interests include General Equilibrium, Business Cycle Theory, Macroeconomics of Labour Markets, Macroeconomics of Cryptocurrencies, and Applied Time Series Econometrics. He has published in international peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Journal of Macroeconomics, B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics, Review of Development Economics, Empirical Economics, Frontiers in Blockchain, and Macroeconomic Dynamics. His recent research focuses on the long-term relationship between macroeconomic and financial fundamentals and cryptocurrency metrics, as well as the role of scale effects in economic growth. He has extensive teaching, doctoral supervision, and academic leadership experience. During his tenure at Cardiff University, he taught and coordinated courses in macroeconomics, labour economics, mathematical economics, computational macroeconomics, and time-series econometrics. He has supervised Ph.D. and MSc students who have gone on to academic, central banking, government, and international research positions. He has also served as an external examiner for the University of Southampton and as an examiner on Ph.D. boards at Cardiff University. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Higher Education in the United Kingdom.
