Biography

Nikolaos Gkekas is a Lecturer of Applications at the Department of Accounting and Finance of the Philips University and the Business Administration and Organizations of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in “Accounting Applications”. He is also a PhD Candidate with a dissertation topic on “The impact of blockchain on accounting and auditing”.

Since 2000, he has been teaching theoretical and laboratory accounting courses, including:
– Financial and Advanced Financial Accounting
– Cost and Managerial Accounting
– Tax Accounting
– Corporate and Group Accounting
– Financial Statement Analysis
– Computerized Accounting, Commercial Management and Payroll
– Accounting Information Systems
– Accounting Standardization, Greek GAAP and GGLS
– International Accounting Standards and IFRS

He has taught at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as at the TEI of Central Greece and the TEI of Athens. Since 2024, he has served as Academic Supervisor of the Internship Program of the Department of Business Administration and Organizations at NKUA.

Since 1993, he has been working as a Freelance Accountant–Tax Consultant Class A (license no. 65373, Economic Chamber of Greece), certified since 1999. His professional experience covers the full accounting and tax cycle of businesses and individuals, with main activities including:

– Bookkeeping and electronic bookkeeping (myDATA) under Greek GAAP
– Preparation and submission of tax returns
– Preparation and publication of financial statements
– Organization and supervision of accounting departments
– Payroll, labor and social security support (EFKA, ERGANI)
– Computerization and digital organization of accounting departments
– Online services for AADE, ERGANI, GEMI

He holds a specialization certificate in Greek Accounting Standards and International Accounting Standards/IFRS. His research and professional interests focus on the constantly evolving accounting and tax environment. He actively participates in seminars, conferences, and workshops, while regularly updating his knowledge through training material provided by the Economic Chamber of Greece in fields such as:
– Greek Accounting Standards
– Electronic Books (myDATA)
– Income taxation of individuals and legal entities
– VAT and property taxation
– Labor and social security issues
– GEMI-related matters
– Anti-money laundering regulations
