Ο Επ. Καθηγητής Ποινικού Δικαίου και Εγκληματολογίας στο Philips University Φώτης Σπυρόπουλος συμμετείχε ως προσκεκλημένος ομιλητής στο Ευρωπαϊκό Συνέδριο με θέμα «Protecting Human Rights in the Digital Age and in Social Media, το οποίο συνδιοργανώθηκε στην Πάφο στις 26.09.2024 από το Γραφείο της Επιτρόπου Διοικήσεως και Προστασίας Ανθρώπινων Δικαιωμάτων-Cyprus Ombudsman, τον Σύνδεσμο Διαμεσολαβητών της Μεσογείου (Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen – AOM) και την Επιτροπή της Βενετίας του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης. Το θέμα του συνεδρίου ήταν η προστασία των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων στη διαρκώς μεταβαλλόμενη ψηφιακή εποχή, με έμφαση στην Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη. Στο συνέδριο μεταξύ άλλων απηύθυνε χαιρετισμό ο Υφυπουργός Έρευνας, Καινοτομίας και Ψηφιακής Πολιτικής της Κύπρου Νικόδημος Δαμιανού. Το θέμα της ομιλίας του Επ. Καθηγητή Ποινικού Δικαίου και Εγκληματολογίας στο Philips University Φώτη Σπυρόπουλου ήταν το εξής: “Human rights in the digital realm. Shaping our digital future”. Ο Δρ. Σπυρόπουλος παρουσίασε την πρότασή του για δημιουργία νέων δικαιωμάτων που να αφορούν στον ψηφιακό κόσμο, με την ομιλία του να δημιουργεί ουσιαστική επιστημονική συζήτηση και αφορμή για περαιτέρω επιστημονική έρευνα με τη συμμετοχή των εκπροσώπων του Συμβουλίου της Ευρώπης και της ΕΕ. _______________________________________________________________________
European Conference in Paphos, organised by the Office of the Commissioner for the Administration and Protection of Human Rights – Cyprus Ombudsman, with the participation of Dr. Fotios Spyropoulos, Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at Philips University
Dr Fotios Spyropoulos, Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at Philips University, participated as an invited speaker at the European Conference on “Protecting Human Rights in the Digital Age and in Social Media”, co-organised by the Office of the Commissioner for the Administration and Protection of Human Rights – Cyprus Ombudsman, the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AOM) and the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe on 26 September 2024 in Paphos. The theme of the conference was the protection of human rights in the ever-changing digital age, with a particular focus on AI technologies. Among others distinguished speakers, the conference was addressed by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of Cyprus, Nicodemus Damianou. The topic of the presentation by Dr Fotios Spyropoulos, Assistant Professor of Criminal Law and Criminology at Philips University, was as follows: “Human Rights in the Digital World. Shaping our digital future”. Dr Spyropoulos presented his proposal for the creation of new rights in the context of the digital world. His lecture sparked a substantial academic discussion and prompted further academic research involving representatives of the Council of Europe and the EU.
