Professor Pavlakis holds a law degree from Aristotle University of Salonica, a BSc in Nursing Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Research and Methodology. He was awarded the Ph.D. in Mental Care Nursing from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Post Doc in Distance Learning Education. He served as a member of the academic staff at the Open University of Cyprus, Department in Health Care Management. He is currently the Chairperson of the Department of Nursing at Philips University and the Director of the Distance Learning Unit.
Professor Pavlakis’ areas of research cover three very distinct fields – firstly, the antisocial behavior of youth and its correlations with substance abuse; secondly, the organization and functionality of health care units and specifically the needs of health care providers and thirdly, applied academic methodology regarding long distance learning in education and the learning process.
